Tips to Speed up Your
Metabolism
What is metabolism?
Metabolism is a process by which the body burns the calories
and converts them into useful energy.
If you need
to lose weight, one great way to begin melting pounds away
is to speed up your metabolism.
By increasing your metabolism, you’ll be
able to process food faster resulting in less fat being stored
in the body.
In fact, with a better metabolism, your body
will begin burning off existing fat in order to get the energy
it requires to support itself.

When you are on a weight loss plan your
major focus should be to speed up your metabolism.
Our body gets energy from the food we eat,
the enzymes in our digestive system break down the protein
present in our food into smaller particle like amino acids and
fatty acids, which are the main sources of energy that our body
needs and carbohydrates are broken down into sugars. These are
absorbed by our blood and distributed to all the parts of our
body.
There are several factors that affect the
metabolism of a person, such as the amount of muscle tissue,
the frequency of the meals one eats, genetics, stress levels,
personal diet and activity levels.

Here are several ways to speed up your
metabolism:
1. Firstly, recognise that you absolutely
must exercise on a regular basis if you want to speed up your
metabolism. Build strength and resistance by working out at
least twice a week, preferably with weights. Do easy exercises
in between workouts.
Simple tasks such as walking the dog and
using the stairs instead of the elevator can already take off
calories. When you workout, you will not only lose weight, but
increase your metabolic rate, as well.
Whenever you exercise, the rate of your
metabolism increases and it remains high for as long as up to 8
hours after your last exercise.
Numerous studies have shown that getting adequate and proper
exercise can slow down the process of aging, improve body
function and increase metabolism.
2. Eat breakfast. Many people ignore the
fact that breakfast is the most important meal of the day.
Surprisingly, those who eat breakfast are thinner than those
who don't.
3. Avoid sugar. Sugar enables the body to
store fat. It is recommended that a person eats food that helps
maintain an even level of blood-sugar.
4. Eat spicy foods. Hot cuisine with peppers
can speed up your metabolism.
5. Sleep more. According to research, it is
more likely that people who don't get sufficient sleep gain
more weight.
6. Increase water intake. Water flushes out
toxins that are produced whenever the body burns fat.
7. Eat smaller meals. It's advisable to
consume 4 to 6 small meals a day that are timed 2 to 3 hours
apart.
8. Never skip meals. People tend to skip
meals in order to lose weight, which is a big mistake since it
slows down metabolism.
9. Get rid of stress! Stress, be it physical
or emotional, triggers the release of a steroid called
cortisol, which decreases metabolism.
10. Drink lots of green tea. Tea has the
ability to speed up your metabolism, and unlike coffee, there
are no undesirable side effects when too much is consumed.
11. Include more energy foods in the diet,
such as fruits and vegetables, beans and whole grains.
Achieving the desired body weight is never
impossible if you have the determination and patience required
to stabilise the metabolism level, which plays an important
role in weight loss.
You need to realise that eating correctly
and exercising is not just a fleeting fancy, but a way of
life.
